Brook + Derrick / Noah Liff Opera Center, Nashville, TN
Brook had all but given up on finding her perfect man, when via their favorite dating app, Derrick asked her to meet for coffee. Having not met prior, when she walked into the coffee shop, Derrick thought to himself, "Wow!! I hope that's her." We love nothing more than a love story that begins like a fairytale! It gets even better, though. Derrick was soon to learn that not only is Brook one of the loveliest people you could ever meet, but that she was also a brilliant and accomplished young woman. Not wanting to miss his chance, Derrick invited her to his bible study group. It was at that moment she knew that she had found the other half of her heart and we are so thankful that she did. It's impossible not to immediately fall in love with both of them.
From the first moment that Janice, the mother of the bride, contacted us, the entire team at Weddings & Events by Raina held our collective breaths hopeful they would hire our team to execute her amazing wedding vision. From the first consultation we were entranced by the idea of and entirely black and white wedding. Janice's key words in describing her design vision were elegant, timeless, romantic and quintessentially Brook and Derrick. We were beyond excited to work with her to make this dream a reality!
Presiding over the wedding was Brook's childhood pastor Bruce Maxwell. While their wedding ceremony was a traditional Christian ceremony, Pastor Maxwell shared memories and emotions bringing loved ones to laughter and tears, of joy, of course. The best part was seeing just how delighted he was for Brook and Derrick securing their union. Having known Brook's family for nearly 50 years, having him there to officiate the wedding ceremony made it even more special.
Brook and Derrick's first dance was what dreams were made of. Not being able to take their eyes off of each other as they danced under the stars (ok, they were twinkle lights), the very much in love newlyweds were so taken with each other, they didn't even realize when they music stopped. It was clear that no one else in the world existed outside their little bubble of love.
The real showstopper, however, was the overall room design...truly a vision, created especially for the bride and groom by Brook's incredibly talented mother, Janice. She took everything thing that her daughter and future son in law love and intertwined them into something breathtaking with the assistance of the design team at Weddings & Events by Raina who called in the experts at TN Event Designs and Petals & Branches by Delfino who transformed the Noah Liff Opera Center into an elegant black and white ballroom. Draped in sheer fabric, decked out with silver mirrors, string lights and white flowers at every turn. The Liff Center ballroom was certainly a sight to behold!
We certainly are glad that 21st Century Photography & Videography were on hand to capture all the beautiful memories made that night. Everything from the celebratory to the silly...all guests in attendance will surely be talking about this unforgettable evening for years to come. Everything from the fabulous dance music provided by DJ SlateRock to the decadent delectables provided by Chef's Market...there wasn't a single detail that wasn't expertly planned and executed ensuring that Brook and Derrick's loved ones would have the time of their lives.
In addition to beautiful speeches given by Derrick's parents and Brook's mother, Brook's twin sister and beloved Uncle surprised the newlyweds by singing a duet. Diana Ross must have had Brook and Derrick in mind when she first sang Endless Love..."My love, there's only you in my life. The only thing that's right....You're every breath that I take. You're every step I make. And I want to share all my love with you..." Such a lovely selection for her sister and Uncle to choose. Their beautiful voices brought everyone to tears as they serenaded the bride and groom.
Everyone was simply blown away by the beauty of the creative cake design Brook and Derrick came up with. Executed perfectly by Jenifer's Cakes, the wedding cake, which was equally as gorgeous as the bride's dress. Featuring small floral clusters holding up sweeping drapes of sugared fabric, perfectly mirroring the overall event design while creating delight for all the guests who posed for numerous selfies with this stunning cake. Can you blame them? We still can't take our eyes off this decadent confectionary creation!
Originally Brook and Derrick were going to get married in 2020, but then, as with most newly engaged couples, the pandemic had other plans. Coincidentally, when they selected their postponement date, it just happened to fall on Brook's mother's birthday. Given the opportunity to have twice as much to celebrate, Brook and Raina concocted a secret plan to surprise her mother by having everyone sing to her while Raina presented her with a birthday cake just after the newlyweds cut their wedding cake.
A celebratory Ghanian line dance, lead by Derrick's family ended this dreamy evening. Amid cheers and laughter, both families danced together as one well into the night celebrating the love that Brook and Derrick share. The entire evening was a glamorous success that truly encompassed everything that Brook and her mother Janice envisioned for the big day. The entire team at Weddings & Events by Raina certainly felt honored to have been a part of this elegant event.
