Jean + Roger - An Intimate Backyard Wedding - Franklin, TN

Roger and Jean, who were both widowed after each spent many years in long loving marriages never imagined that they would once again find love.

While looking for others who had lost a spouse, both Jean and Roger joined several charitable volunteer and social groups at church.

Almost instantly these two had a connection, however neither believed it could be anything more than friendship. That a second chance at love was simply not something that was in the cards for them. It was much to their surprise that after months of spending time together as friends, joining one another for holidays and family get-togethers, that it dawned on them that they were actually courting.

It was once they made this realization that Roger decided to date Jean in earnest. When he finally proposed, their families were delighted. Neither could recall a time since their spoused had passed on that they had been so happy and carefree. Their children certainly agreed as they eagerly offered to stand beside them as they took their vows becoming husband and wife.

Their ceremony was presided over by their mutual close friend, Judge Gary Chaffin and an original song written for the happy couple was performed by Roger's son.

Their reception was an intimate backyard affair with their closest friends and family members in attendance. It was a beautiful spring day made only more lovely by the cheerful baskets overflowing with sprays of local wildflowers grown at Twin Rose Farms. Sheila Hines Floral Designs incorporated Jean's favorites like daisies and Queen Anne's lace as well as the beautiful and fragrant honeysuckle and garden roses that Roger would bring Jean when they were courting.

The tables were dressed with gold chargers that really popped with color against the periwinkle linens and blush table runners, a combination of Jean and Roger's favorite colors.

Corn hole competitions between the two families were friendly but quite competitive. It was as if the new siblings were family all along. It's a good thing that they were only playing to see who got the extra remaining pieces of chocolate earthquake cake from Bell Buckle Cafe.

Everyone in attendance was beyond excited that the happy couple secured the famous Bell Buckle Cafe to cater. Not only did they offer up some of the amazing dishes that they were famous for, they also replicated the shrimp and grits that Jean is famous for with the recipe that has been passed down for generations throughout her family.

We were all so thankful that family was able to come from near and far, but especially that Jean's 108 year old mother was able to see her find true love and marry once again. The celebrating went on throughout the evening and more than likely well into the following day. It's a good thing that Roger and Jean have a large home to accommodate all their guests!

A wonderful time was had by all at a wedding that we are quite certain will be recalled fondly for years to come.
